Fulvio Di Piazza was born in Siracusa in 1969. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art of Urbino and currently lives and works in Palermo.
Fulvio's artistic production seems to willingly forget all the evolutionary path of painting over 19th century. To an art - the contemporary one - made of simplification and immediacy, he counterposes his world, surrealistic and fantastic, full of illusion and mystery, a world where the animal, vegetal and mineral kingdom get subverted and exchange place with one another. His work is rich with all sorts of inspiration, from fantasy novels to sci-fi, up till the world of cinema, from which he takes the taste for the horrid, the grotesque and the paradox. The artist invites the viewer to look at his work with intent and reflective eyes, trying to capture the detail, rather than be content with an overall vision that isn't capable of going beyond the first impression.
Last summer, Fulvio Di Piazza has been involved in a project in the "Albergheria", one pf Palermo's districts, where - together with four other artists - he has realised five wall paintings.
