Luca Savettiere is a photographer born in Palermo in 1976. He graduated in History of Art with specialization in Cinema's history and Critics at the University of Palermo.
The Image is the recurring theme of all his career and artistic production: after a professional approach on video production in the artistic-sperimental domain, he gives vent to his great passion in photography applying his "street interpretation" in different domains, such as advertising. A need born primarily by a "sociological" interest, to locate specific elements in the urban landscape that deeply bind the man to the environment in which he lives. His analysis seeks to relate man and geographic territory, and what on the territory was added by the man.
About "Somewhere in Sicily": this collection of photographs portrays different landscapes, captured all over Sicily. To the artist, it's not important to know exactly where these places are, because the purpose is to create a set of symbols which immediately evoke the idea of Sicily, even if not a specific geographic location.
About "Il Viaggio"(the Journey): Luca's most recent project revolves around "the Journey", starting from the last one he made, in Cuba in 2018, and the photographs he took there, portraying places and people in a land full of history and contradictions. This journey is real as well as metaphorical, intimate and individual, and becomes a pretext to think deeply about the idea of travelling, something that has changed significantly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
