Painter, photographer, musician, Marco Giambrone is an eclectic artist whose interests go well beyond the artistic field. He was born in Cammarata - a small town near Agrigento where he currently lives and works - and his artistic path developed through self-teaching: first painting, then passing on to music, until he finally landed on photography.
Marco's artistic research began by looking around, studying and representing Sicilian landscapes, buildings and daily scenes where every now and then a solitary figure appears, immersed in a timeless atmosphere. He prefers instant photography and uses films which are mostly out of production. Even though photography as a means of expression is usually associated with spontaneity and immediacy, he uses it in a sort of controlled and well-thought way, composing photographs that look almost suspended.
He had an exhibition in Milan in 2011, on the occasion of the Vogue Fashion Night. During the same and then the following year, he also took part in the ISO600 Instant Photography Festival - also in Milan - and began to work with the group of international stylists Kökler. Thanks to this partnership, he had two exhibitions, in Milan and Frankfurt.
In 2014, his photograph "Under the Cross" was chosen as the cover for the album "Things we lost" by the band Gentless3.
When he is not plying, taking pictures or painting, Marco works with his family in Cammarata, at the Giambrone Farm.
