Maurizio Pometti is a painter Born in Catania in 1987. There, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, gratuating in Painting in 2016. He took part in a number of collective exhibitions and was selected among the finalists of the Arteam Cup 2016 prize.
He currently lives in Catania where, apart from his activity as an artist, he actively works with different art galleries, both in Italy and abroad: the KoArt Gallery in Catania, the Giuseppe Veniero Project in Palermo, Putia Sicilian Creativity in Castelbuono, La Bodega Studios in Brooklyn.
His work represents a deep reflection on mankind and its weakness together with the precariousness of our time, where the ordinary is observed from a different perspective and everything is perceived in a new and original way. His characters live in multiple dimensions but all of them are in constant relationship with the artist's physical body. Painting and drawing are his tools to attempt at improving the present, by exorcising the weakness of the human body, which he does by using energetic and solid brush strokes - a distinctive trait of his style - that make the paintings look almost tridimensional.
He recently landed on a new research, focused on memories and his family, that resulted in the series "Rebel Hearts". The artist describes this journey as "a game, a way of coming back to beautiful and simple things, to childhood. Having fun with little. Rebel with kindness, without screaming, without a reason to be happy".
