Angela Sottile is an artist, art conservator, art historian, stylist and ceramist from Castelbuono. She earned her Degree in Pictorial Conservation at the Academy of Fine Arts and Conservation "Aldo Galli" in Como and then continued her studies in Palermo, where she graduated in Art History. She's been managing the scenographies of the Ypsigrock Festival since 2009, while she also was President of the Castelbuono Civic Museum for 3 years, from 2015 till 2018.
In 2017, she was selected among the Sicilian artists of the Imago Mundi collection promoted by Luciano Benetton with her artwork "COW" (oil on canvas and collage). The work was exposed during the exhibition Imago Mundi – Mediterranean Routes in Palermo.
Angela is an all-around artist, whose creativity is expressed in the most diverse fields. The common theme behind all her work is her passion towards science and the endless possibilities given by new technologies. This aspect runs in parallel with her artistic production, sometimes combining with it and resulting in original projects that aim at promoting the territory's artistic and cultural heritage.
Concerning her more strictly artistic production, her style is based on what appears to be a suspension between a dreamworld and a waking one, the former being almost science fiction-like, where everything is mixed together, the old and the new, real and imagined, visible and hidden, ordinary and extraordinary. The result is a visionary art that explores and represents everything that surrounds it, curious and greedy, looking for connections between lives, characters and objects.
