Description
Pètra is the modern reinterpretation of an ancient jug, who belongs to the history of Arab ceramics and then later it arrives in Sicily, where it takes the name of Bummulo Malandrino.
Today the container is made in the district of Caltagirone, according to the project designed by Make that Studio and Improntabarre, who wanted to give a new life to the aesthetics of this jug, creating a contemporary tableware accessory that well represents the history of the Sicilian island, characterised by countless cultural influences.

The name, as well as the logo, si a combination of two concepts: serial production and handicraft. The barcode is typical of industrial manufacturing while the imprint from a finger highlights instead that each single passage of the production process is artisanal.
Born from an idea of Andrea Branciforti, Improntabarre (barimprint) is a studio and design lab that works with a web of artisans in making objects of the highest quality. Curious items that try to seize the moment of a society that goes too fast, by using and renovating an ancient material such as Sicilian ceramic, and by working with artisanal tools and techniques. Irony and functionality, all in objects that carry some sort of poetry as well.
All items of our collection are entirely handmade, so each piece has its personal character and no two are exactly alike. Any little imperfections that may occur are the result of our handcrafted work and prove the uniqueness of the final product.
