These photographs are part of the portfolio I Siciliani (The Sicilians), a project developed by the photographer Michele Di Donato to pay tribute to Sicily, the land that adopted him, by capturing places, people, traditions and daily scenes.
What comes back to the observer is a picture that almost looks like a postcard, fixed in what might appear like an unchanging time, that yet undermines its misleading "eternal" nature.
«I work very slowly. My camera is not free to wander, the spot where I put it is not the place where something is going to happen, but where a number of events will be reported. This way, I try to turn my characters into narrators, to make it so that my camera becomes a listener, and is there to capture not just the subject, but the energy that moves it as well».
